Google first opened the Google Store online in 2015.
Over the years, Google has also opened physical pop-up stores worldwide, usually coinciding with significant new hardware releases. However, one thing Google never has is permanent physical retail space.
- Google will officially open the doors of Google Store NYC on June 17, 2021.
- The store was the company's first permanent physical retail location.
- We have some Google-owned store photos.
That all changes tomorrow. At 10:00 AM ET on June 17, 2021, Google will officially open Google Store NYC, its new permanent home. Occupying Manhattan's historic Chelsea Market building, the store will sell all sorts of Google products. It will also exist as a storefront for those products to provide a hands-on experience to customers.
As expected, the store borrows little from the aesthetics of Apple Stores, which already have more than 500 spread worldwide. However, Google adds its spin to things by offering a mock location that can give you an idea of how its products can improve your daily life.
In addition, the Store in NYC will have many Googlers ready to help you with the products you want to buy and the ones you already have.
Google has an in-depth blog post that discusses how the store came about and how important sustainability is to the company.
